Walking in to meet the herd
A moment from the elephant day.
Behind the moment
Keeper outfits on
We reach the camp at about 10:00. The camp staff register you, and you sign the form for the accident insurance, which is included in the day. Then you change into the keeper outfit the camp provides for the activities, and your own clothes go into your bag for later.
The rest of the day
We pick you up where you stay at 08:30 and drive about an hour north to an elephant camp in Mae Taeng. From about 10:00 you register, change into a keeper outfit and join a short workshop with an elephant guide. Then you prepare food, feed, walk with and bathe the elephants, always with the keepers beside you. After a buffet lunch at the camp we drive about 40 minutes to Bua Tong, the Sticky Waterfall, for around two hours. You are back where you stay around 16:00.
